Edible refined sunflower oils, copper, iron, organochlorinated insecticides
Abstract:
Due to increasing pollution of the environment, undesirable matters may be absorbed by
oilcrops and get into the oils, e.g., the final products of vegetable oil industry. The content
of copper, iron, and various organochlorinated insecticides in samples of 13 edible refined
sunflower oils produced by different factories and refined by conventional or physical processing
are presented. All samples were taken from products being on the market. It was shown that the
edible refined sunflower oils studied were of very high quality from health aspect, since the
residues of copper, iron, and organochlorinated insecticides were below the concentrations allowed
by the Yugoslav regulations.
